Jesse James Day is celebrated every July in Adair, Iowa. (they do discuss WHY they celebrate this outlaw…) Adair was the site of Jesse’s first train robbery. My cousins live and farm in Adair. To prepare for the Jesse James Days, they crank homemade ice cream with tractors, scoop it into gallons, store it in the freezer at the bank (small town) and it get’s eaten and sold during that weekend. Of course you can get some great grilled pork and hamburgers…not to mention the sweetest sweet corn ever! There’s an enactment of the train robbery that happens, too. If you’re ever passing through July around the 20th of any year, you should stop in!
